Access Clinic

Founded in 2021 by Sidney Kimmel Medical College medical students and the Academic Global Ophthalmology Department at Wills Eye, the Access Clinic at the Hansjorg-Wyss Wellness Center (HWWC) addresses health disparities in underserved populations in South Philadelphia.

A completely fee-free clinic, the Access Clinic provides basic ophthalmic screening services and free glasses at Wills Eye. They have recently begun offering free ophthalmic medications and scheduling patients for cataract surgery.

Offering comprehensive eye exams including diabetic eye exams, glaucoma screening, cataract evaluations and eyeglass prescription services, we see everyone regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

Interpreter services are available for over 50 languages, including Indonesian, Lao, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese and more!

Sign up here to schedule an appointment! After filling out the form, a member from the clinic staff will contact you to finalize an appointment time.

At the Access Clinic, we are currently examining over 20 patients a month, spread over two sessions that occur in the afternoon and evenings.

We have over 20 patients scheduled for cataract surgery that will be undergoing their procedures cost-free thanks to a generous donor.

We aim to exist as a full-service, completely free ophthalmology clinic for all people in the Philadelphia area. A clinic that can refer patients to subspecialists, schedule, and complete surgical procedures, offer free medications and see our patients as follow-ups. We hope to expand the number of patients we can see each month from 20 to 40.

Everyone here is professional, kind, and courteous with a very good attitude. I found the experience to be delightful. It was wonderful to be able to see the amount of interest that medical students had in my care and how dedicated their instructor was towards their learning. Dr. Ali was wonderful and is so accommodating, generous, and respectful to his patients.”
